Remembering the Goodness of the Lord

“You have made my life longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath” Psalm 39:5

Today’s Encouragement: Life seems to pass us by very quickly at times due to our busy schedules or personal agendas. But even though we all have our week, month, or year planned, we must not forget to stop, breathe, and appreciate the little moments and blessings that we have. It is important to jump off the daily grinder and slow down for the very important moments in life.

It may be as simple as saying “I love you” to your wife or kids while looking into their eyes, or taking a few moments to enjoy your home or other beautiful surroundings. Even simply closing your eyes and saying a prayer about how blessed you are to have a job, home, and family especially in the midst of the pandemic and all the crisis that the world is experiencing today.

This scripture reminds us to take those deep breaths and appreciate all we have even the simplest things. Just be present in the moment, take your time to reflect and process things once in a while. Slowing down long enough to review what the Lord has done in the past and present day, helps strengthen our faith for the future.

Prayer: Wondrous God, You have done so much for me. I want eyes to see You and appreciate everything You’ve given me. Let me not get so caught up in the circumstances in life that I forget to keep my focus on you alone. May you be the center in all that I do. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray. Amen.

Reflection: How do you feel when you focus on the goodness of God? How much time do you spend focusing on God’s goodness?
